Newborn photoshoot at home with family

Tuesday, 13th October 2020

I’m loving being able to return to doing at home photoshoots again, in line with the current safety guidance.

I’m often asked when is the best time to capture your newborn and unless you are after posed shots of your newborn sleeping then the answer is anytime. As my style is natural and more about capturing the moment and love between your family and your new arrival the best time is when it’s best for you.

Having had an emergency c-section with my first I know that those first few days even weeks can be challenging and my experience of second time around is that the time seems to fly by so fast you wonder where the weeks have gone. This is why having these moments – especially the connection between you – recorded is so valuable and in amongst the chaos of late night hugs and juggling it is these moments of togetherness you will cherish forever.

Thank you to the beautiful family below for inviting me into your loving home in such strange times, it was a joy to capture your treasured moments together.

Sunny surrey garden photoshoots

Tuesday, 13th October 2020

Summer feels like a distant memory now, so I thought why not warm up today with an overdue share of a few of the relaxed at home photoshoots I had the joy of capturing over the summer.

I had such fun with the lovely families below in their beautiful gardens, I have now seen the most amazing octopus impressions, been invited to an imaginary tea party and stayed cool thanks to a cheeky sprinkler but the best part was being able to capture the love and laughter they shared together.

Thank you again to all the families who have invited me into their gardens and homes recently, it is always such a pleasure and knowing that you love and will treasure the shots received is the icing on the cake!

At home family photoshoot

Tuesday, 14th July 2020

Winter 2019 was a busy time for me so I’m just getting around to posting some of the beautiful families I had the privilege to photograph. I always love looking back on a shoot and seeing the joy, laughter and overwhelming love pictured. I find myself thinking if I can get this sense of joy from viewing photos of others then imagine the love and self esteem our children must feel when viewing photographs of themselves. That to me is a truly awesome thought!

‘when a child sees a family portrait with them incuded in the photograph they say to themselves: these people have me as part of what they are, that’s why I belong here. This is where I come from’ Judy Weiser licensed psychologist

‘I think it’s really important to show a family as a family unit. it is so helpful for children to see themselves as a valued and important part of the family unit. A photographers job is to create and make the image look like a safe holding space for kids where they are safe and protected. kids get it on a really simple level’ David Krauss licensed psychologist

Since reading a bit on the psychology of family photography I have certainly made a bigger effort to make sure we have lots of photos on our walls and even ones where I am pictured too! If you would love me to capture your family in the comfort of your own home please do get in touch, I would love to discuss your bespoke shoot.

Newborn Park Photoshoot

Saturday, 6th June 2020

I had my first social distance photoshoot this week @wokingpark, we orginally had an at home maternity and newborn shoot planned in but I’m so pleased to have still been able to capture this little one in his first couple of weeks into the world. Such a precious time, Mum and Dad so so in love with him, it was an absolute joy to capture!

Doorstep Portraits

Saturday, 6th June 2020

Happy memories made in what has been a difficult time for most and tragically sad for some. The symbol of the rainbow so very appropriate.

Whatever this time has meant to you I am so pleased I was able to capture the part we all played in staying at home to keep everyone safe.

Thank you to all who took part in Doorstep Portraits and raised money for the local charity, supporting those suffering from domestic abuse, especially in the current crisis. If you haven’t heard of them please check out the great work they do!

Maternity shoot

Thursday, 19th September 2019

The summer holidays seem to have flown by – I can’t believe it’s back to school time already. We had a fab time discovering the British seaside this year from the Isle of Wight to Weymouth! I wasn’t brave enough to venture abroad with two yet but luckily the weather did not let us down and sitting on a beach in the UK has often felt like being abroad. I was particularly impressed with the beach West Bay with it’s eye catching cliffs and amazing play park – adding it to my favourites with a toddler!

I don’t know if it’s having a toddler that makes time go super speedy or the fact that you’ve done it once before but Eleanor seems to be growing up so quickly, I just want to hit the pause button for a second! It only felt like yesterday she was in my tummy but it’s hard to believe she ever fit in there now she’s 5 months! It makes me appreciate the importance of capturing every precious moment.

And big congratulations to this adorable family on becoming a four, it was a joy to capture you together before your new little fella arrived! I loved every second of our shoot together…

Our little bird

Thursday, 6th June 2019

We welcomed our little bird Eleanor Wren into the world in March this year and I have been enjoying lots of cuddles! Although there are lots of new challenges I am absolutely loving being a mummy to two! I thought I couldn’t love Alex more but seeing him take on the role of big brother to Eleanor makes my heart melt – I couldn’t be happier!

It makes me appreciate even more the role of capturing precious moments together in these early stages – it’s just going so quick this time round!!! I want to savour every minute. I look forward to sharing more photos with you as they grow and also capturing memories with your family.
